How to Erase Credant Software From Flash Drive
Credant software is used to encrypt the data on USB hard drives, USB flash drives and laptop hard drives. If you have a USB flash drive that you want to remove the Credant software from it, you can erase it by reformatting your USB drive. Reformatting your USB drive is not very hard and you will not need a computer specialist to help you. You can do it yourself with little hassle and a couple of minutes' time.
1: Plug your USB flash drive into your computer.
2: Click on the "Start" menu and go to the "Computer" icon.
3: Locate your flash drive's icon in the "Computer" window and right-click it.
4: Click the "Format" button to open the reformat window.
5: Click "Start" and wait for the computer to clear all of the software off the drive.

How to Repair a Malfunctioning USB Flash Drive
A Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash memory drive is essentially a small hard drive that allows you to store data in a compact location. USB flash memory drives work slightly differently than other types of memory storage devices, and they are more likely to become corrupted over time.
If your flash drive is malfunctioning, the only sure way to fix the issue is to format the drive back to its original factory settings. Unfortunately, the solution to the malfunction will wipe out all of the data on the drive---but all of that data can then be restored with a recovery tool.
1: Connect the USB flash drive to one of your computer's USB ports. Close down the pop-up window that appears.
2: Open the "Start" menu and select "My Computer." Locate the drive letter that corresponds to your USB flash drive.
3: Right-click the drive letter and select "Format." If your computer is running Windows Vista, you will also need to click "Continue."
4: Click the "File System" button and select "NTFS." Remove the check mark from the box labeled "Quick Format" if it is checked.
5: Click "Start" and wait for the formatting process to finish.
6: Download and then install a recovery program such as "USB Flash Drive Data Recovery," "Data Recovery" or "Pandora Recovery" (see Resources section). Open the program after the installation is complete.
7: Select the USB drive from the list of available drives. Select "Options" and set the program to recover formatted files.
8: Select the specific type of file you want to recover, such as images or sound files, and click "Next." Click "Start" to recover the files back to the USB drive.

How to Repair a Corrupt USB Flash Drive
USB flash drive is similar to a hard drive in that data is stored to its memory for retrieval by a computer's operating system. Removing a USB flash drive from a computer's USB port before it has been properly unmounted will corrupt the file structure, rendering the data unreadable.
Repair the corrupted USB flash drive using software that comes with the Mac and Windows operating systems. The procedures for repairing the corruption, while dissimilar between operating systems, repair the file structure so that the USB flash drive can be used again.
1: Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on the Mac. Double-click the Disk Utility program’s icon to launch it--the program is inside of the “Utilities” folder that is inside of the “Applications” folder.
2: Click the icon of the USB flash drive that is in the left column of the Disk Utility program’s main screen. Click the “First Aid” tab at the top of the program’s main screen.
3: Click the "Repair Disk” button below the “First Aid” tab. Wait as series of lines scroll down the center of the window. Quit the Disk Utility program when the lines are no longer scrolling.
4: Drag the icon of the USB flash drive that can now be seen on the desktop to the Trash. Remove the USB flash drive from the USB port of the Mac.
5: Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on a PC running the Windows 7 operating system. .
6: Right-click the icon of the USB flash drive that is on the desktop. Select "Properties”from the pop-up window that appears.
7: Click the “Tools” tab at the top of the new window that appears. Click the “Rebuild” button on the window.
8: Wait as a progress bar at the bottom of the window fills in from left to right. Close all the open windows on the desktop by clicking their red “X” buttons in the upper-right corner.
9: Right-click the icon of the USB flash drive that can now be seen on the desktop. Select “Eject” from the pop-up menu. Remove the USB flash drive from the USB port of the PC.

How to Remove Write-Protect From the USB Drive
Write-protect, or write-protection, prevents a user from deleting or modifying the files on a drive. If a USB drive is write-protected an error message may appear when you attempt to format the storage device, or create, edit or remove the files saved to the storage device.
Some USB flash drives come with a small switch that you can flip to turn write-protect on or off. If manually disabling write-protect fails to convert the drive to read-write mode a setting in the registry may be affecting the performance of the storage device.
1: Disconnect the USB drive from the computer. Check each side of the USB drive for a small switch.
2: Flip the switch to change the USB flash drive to read-write mode. Reconnect the USB drive to the computer.
3: Attempt to add a file to, or delete a file from, the drive. If an error message appears informing you that the drive is write-protected click "Start." Type "regedit" into the search box. Hit "Enter" to open Registry Editor.
4: Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," "SYSTEM," "CurrentControlSet" and "Control" keys.
5: Click "StorageDevicePolicies." Double-click "WriteProtect" from the right pane. Change the "Value Data" field to "0."
6: Click "OK" to modify the DWORD value. Remove the USB drive from the computer. Wait five seconds, then reinsert the drive into the USB port.

How to Use a USB Flash Drive as Virtual RAM
If your computer seems slow, and you have already gone through making sure there are no viruses, spyware or adware on the system, it may be because your system needs more RAM. RAM is the short-term memory of the computer. It works with the processor to multitask.
RAM can easily be added to your system if you are not already at maximum capacity for your motherboard, and you have available slots. However, RAM can get expensive, and even after you max out your motherboard you may need more. Using a flash drive as RAM is a quick, easy and cheaper way to increase system memory.
1: Insert your flash drive into a USB port. If you have auto-play enabled, there should be an option in the menu that appears that says, "Speed Up My System" that will allow you to enable ReadyBoost.
2: Click the "ReadyBoost" tab.
3: To use the entire flash drive to increase RAM, click "Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost."
4: To use less than the entire flash drive for ReadyBoost, click "Use this device" and move the slider to the amount of space you would like to use.
5: Click "OK."
6: Right click the drive letter, and choose properties.
7: Look for the ReadyBoost Tab, and select it.
8: Look for the option to enable the flash drive as RAM, and allocate the amount of space on the drive you wish to use as RAM. Remember, most systems max out at 4GB RAM. So if you have a drive larger than that, or 2GB RAM already, you need to remember this limitation so as to prevent damage to your system.
